The DIMESLOTS
Come out and have some fun with us!!
PRESS RELEASE:
The DIMESLOTS

Since their formation in September, 1979, the DIMESLOTS have remained a collection of friends and musicians who have regularly united to perform at special occasions, parties and reunions for more than 45 years.

By the time the DIMESLOTS were formed by Bill Williams and Ed Lull in their college dormitory, Deeme Katson was already playing on campuses around Virginia with her band, The Katson Blues Band. Players in the DIMESLOTS were floating between the two bands and equipment was borrowed/shared between them. Deeme’s band graduated three years before the core of the DIMESLOTS, and went on to find success in the DC-area, as did members of the DIMESLOTS after they graduated!

It wasn’t until 15 years later, when, at Ed’s invitation, Deeme & keyboardist Shep Williams joined the DIMESLOTS for their first show together. They have been playing together ever since! And, through its entire history, every player in the DIMESLOTS can track their lineage within the group to that fateful day back in 1979.

Bill Williams went on to start his own band, The Invoices, which led to founding membership in several notable bands including: Last Train Home, Kevin Johnson & the Linemen, The Jelly Roll Mortals and more.

Ed Lull moved to California and started a company that helped Bill launch his first CD, a company which later became a Booking and Management Agency (LULLMusic). He has played with local bands such as The Noisy Neighbors.

Deeme Katson and Shep Williams started The Katson Blues Band, which became The Essentials. She has also fronted Groovy, The Deeme Katson Band and others.
Shep Williams, in addition to his many involvements with Deeme’s bands, is a founding member of The Cactus Liquors, a highly popular cover band that plays at many local venues.

Both Deeme and Bill are frequent participants in the Newmyer Flyer Tribute shows that feature the FINEST DC-Area musicians at the FINEST DC-Area venues. Both Deeme and Bill are multiple winners of Washington Area Music Awards.

Drummer Bill Grossman has been keeping time with the group since 1982, Guitarist Bill Cusmano first played with Ed in 1980, before he joined Deeme’s band, and George Long covers vocals and harmonica With Deeme’s band since the ‘80s and with the Dimeslots for more than 10 years.
